PhDeacon: Matt Halbach

Deacon, Doctor, and Dad

Listen as Dcn. Matt reads the upcoming Sunday's readings then gives a short, thoughtful, and practical homily for families to listen to together. Each episode empowers families to break open the Liturgy of the Word and ends with a practical challenge on ways to live out the truth each Sunday's readings.

Listen to the Readings Ahead of Time

Mass is often filled with shushing our kids to be quiet and pay attention. We often are breaking up fights or carefully curating a makeshift schedule for each child to sit on mom's lap for the same amount of time. By the time we stand for the gospel, we've most likely not even heard the previous readings.

Sound familiar?

So often it's difficult for families to engage with the Liturgy of the Word at Mass. That's why Deacon Matt Halbach, a husband to Stacy, father of six kids, uses his PhD in Catechetics to charismatically preach on the readings for Sunday. No agenda, all grace for families.

Matt's homilies speak to the heart of parents and breaks open the word so we can understand it better and let it settle down deep in our hearts and souls. Matt helps the Liturgy of the Word nourish us for the demanding week ahead. We pray these homilies bless you and your family!
